In its third year of existence the Scion FR-S shows up as a very sporty and gorgeous sports coupe that scream “drive me” to those who are willing to listen. With an aggressive and easy to enjoy performance the FR-S of 2013 offered a slight amount of oversteer also known as being “tail happy” making it a fun car to take for a cruise and at a really easy to love price as well. For the 2015 model year, Scion has developed a control to take care of this oversteer problem and add a ton of control to the car through the electronic stability control system making it a car that now sticks the road as precisely as many luxury cars.

This change to the oversteer problems of before allow the 2015 version of the FR-S to be able to be driven hard into corners and keep its stance easily, in fact with the stiffened chassis on the front end the car actual applies understeer when driven to hot into a corner, a major change that really helps the FR-S outperform many cars in its class. This application of driving performance changes create a car that is all sports cars and ready to take on many others on the track or out on the open road and offers drivers a lot of fun behind the wheel.

The FR-S comes in powered by a 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine that brings in as much as 200 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft. of torque. Although not numbers that sound like typical high powered sports car numbers the FR-S is a much lighter car than many of the other typical sports cars out there. There is a choice of two different transmissions that can be had on the FR-S either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The fuel efficiency comes in at 22 city/30 hwy for the manual transmission and 25 city/34 hwy for the automatic.

Sitting inside the FR-S the driver knows they are piloting a sports car at every turn. With the metal and perforated pedals and the buttery smooth leather wrapped steering wheel the control features are easy to enjoy and understand. The seats, gauges and steering wheel are all trimmed out in red on the charcoal gray to give a clean and cool but very sporty look to the car. Add to this the metal trimmings that are found in other parts of the interior and this car is amazing from the inside out.

On the outside the FR-S shows off as a very interesting looking car, but still has the full personality and great appearance of a very nice sports car. The trick here is the inclusion of sharp angles across the front nose area around the grill and the amazing sideways teardrop shaped headlights that make the front have a completely menacing look. Coming away from the front of the car and going toward the back the FR-S has excellent curves and a smooth and low angle from the hood to the roofline and on back. The rear of the car offers a rear spoiler that is not over done and a pair of chrome plated tailpipes for that finishing touch across the body to show off some speed. The wheels are star-spoked and racing designed, making every inch of this car feel and look like a sports car that can really push the limits.

The FR-S shows up in 2015 with a starting price of $25,655 for the manual transmission equipped car and moves to $26,755 for the automatic. No matter which one is chosen this is really a very affordable car that screams down the road and is built to give the owner a ton of driving pleasure on any type of road.
