When you have a retractable hardtop roof what can you do with it? What will shock you about the exterior look of this car is the fact it looks like two different cars but it’s really only one. The Eos only comes in the convertible form, but the top up and top down looks are so different that it’s absolutely amazing. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels and giving a sporty appearance this is a car you will want to drive every day regardless of the weather, but sunny days will be even more fun.

The Eos offers some great standard features in this car that fits in a small part of the market. The Komfort model offers dual zone climate controls, a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, the V-Tex imitation leather upholstery, a navigation system, a five-inch infotainment screen, an eight-speaker audio system, an auxiliary port, Bluetooth streaming and an iPod cable. This Volkswagen car does comes with one year or 10,000 miles of scheduled maintenance included while also offering three years or 36,000 miles of roadside assistance to give you the peace of mind you won’t be stranded anywhere.

Inside the car you will enjoy the four seat cabin that offers the look and feel of a car that plays in the luxury class. There is plenty of room in all four seats for everyone to be comfortable and the different colors inside the cabin give you a car that has the right look for you to fully enjoy the ride. When the top is up you have 10.5 cubic feet of storage space in the trunk, which is shrunk to 6.6 cubic feet when the top is down to give you enough room for a few grocery bags at any time.

The Eos comes in pretty close to fully equipped for you and can have a few dealer installed add-ons for you to enjoy, but for the most part this is a car that you buy as it stands. This is of course due to the fact that this car plays in such a small part of the market, but when you choose the Eos as your car for daily or weekend driving you will know you made the right choice. If you do want some add-ons you can get a remote starter, a first aid kit and arear lip spoiler to give you a bit more in your Eos.

What are the coolest features of this car? The panoramic glass sunroof and the fact you have a standard navigation system offered. This roof in a convertible hardtop is an intriguing addition to the car, giving you a way to have a great look at the sky when the top is up. The navigation system helps you find where you are going and comes standard whereas most cars offer this as an optional feature rather than something that is included.

Under the hood you will find only one engine for the new Eos. This engine is the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that makes 200 horsepower and 207 lb.-ft. of torque. Mated to the six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission this powertrain is an excellent choice from Volkswagen. There is even a Sport mode to make the driving even more fun and premium fuel is needed to operate the car efficiently. The fuel numbers come in at 22 city/30 hwy mpg to give you a powertrain that has good power, a lot of fun and is one that is efficient enough to drive on a daily basis.

Of course with only one model for this car there is only one price, which makes it very easy to shop. The Eos comes in just below $33,000 and only increases in price with dealer added features if desired. This price is one that comes in well under the Lexus IS and the Infiniti Q60 both of which the Eos is comparted with on the market. With these two names in the same conversation you wonder if this is a luxury car, which is certainly can be, but the Eos comes at a mainstream price.

What makes the Eos so special? The fact this car has a convertible hardtop that also includes a panoramic sunroof is pretty special, but for 2016 the Eos celebrates its last year in existence. There are a limited number of the Komfort models being made and when they have sold out the Eos will be gone from the lineup for good. This certainly gives you some enticement to run out and buy this cool convertible car that offers the features you want on your luxury car but at a price that makes this one of the most affordable convertibles on the market.

What kind of drive can you expect? The Eos is a confident and enjoyable car to drive. This is also one of the few convertibles on the road that actually has the ability to dispel some of the outside noise for you. With a suspension that will handle the road with a gentle confidence you will feel planted but light along any road; making it much easier for you to drive your car through any curve without worry.
