How small is too small? The 2025 Acura ADX enters the lineup as the smallest SUV from the brand, taking its position as a subcompact crossover.
The ADX is one of the most affordable premium SUVs available, making it easy to have upscale features, the Acura badging, and an excellent vehicle to drive. It shares a platform with the Honda HR-V, making it the smallest SUV from the brand. The new ADX provides you with more power than the HR-V, which is exciting and fun when you want to take this little SUV out for a drive.
Let’s learn a little more about the 2025 Acura ADX.
Are there any competitors?
You might not think about the subcompact SUV class being filled with luxury names, but there are a few. The new ADX competes with the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, and Volvo XC40, which might put this new Acura model at the back of the proverbial pack. Still, there’s something enticing about this little SUV that can be a great option when you want to get behind the wheel and enjoy the affordable and upscale drive offered.
Three trims, but not the one you want
The new 2025 Acura ADX comes in three trim levels, but none of them are the desirable Type S trim. This could be something that Acura adds later on, or might not feel it’s required for this small SUV. The A-Spec trim is in the middle of the range and has some impressive features you won’t find on the base model. The A-Spec model comes with:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Faux-suede seat trim
- Ventilated front seats
- 19-inch wheels
- Fog lamps
- USB-C charging ports for rear-seat passengers
- Power front passenger seat
If you want to add AWD to the ADX, it’s a $2,000 upgrade on all trims.
The right powertrain for this tiny Acura
Every model of the new ADX comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine mated to a CVT. This powertrain delivers 190 horsepower to the wheels, with most models set up in FWD and some offered with AWD. When AWD is chosen, half the power is sent to the rear wheels, which can help when the roads get slippery.
The handling is precise, and the ride is comfortable, making it easy to admire the driving experience inside the ADX. Regardless of trim, this Acura SUV doesn’t accelerate very fast. It takes 8.4 seconds for it to reach 60 mph, which puts it in the slower end of the subcompact luxury crossover segment.
If you choose the ADX to be an efficient SUV, you’ll be pleased. It makes 28 MPG combined in FWD models and 28 MPG combined in AWD versions, giving you good fuel mileage during your time on the road.
Can you get comfortable?
The cabin area of the 2025 Acura ADX gives you enough room for four adults to feel comfortable and not cramped. Additionally, some of the expected features are present, including:
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
- Sunroof
- Power liftgate
- Stainless steel gas and brake pedal caps
- Flat-bottom steering wheel
- Red gauge needles
- Chrome shift knobs
The area behind the rear seats is large enough to hold seven carry-on suitcases, which means you have space for the stuff you need to take with you when you use the ADX for a road trip.
Is the screen big enough?
The standard infotainment screen measures 9.0 inches, and the digital gauge display measures 10.2 inches. You’ll have the benefits of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in every trim o the ADX. If you want in-vehicle navigation via Google Maps, you’ll need to choose the A-Spec Advance trim, which is the to model. Every model has the benefits of onboard Wi-Fi and wireless smartphone charging to give you a bit more of what you want and need.
You’re listening pleasure comes to you via the standard 8-speaker stereo system, but a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen system is available.
