Kia does offer many vehicles in other markets that we will never see in the US, but that doesn’t keep us from admiring them.

If the world were perfect, at least perfect for wagons, we would still be in love with wagons in North America and realize their benefits when compared to SUVs. In this world, SUVs would be viewed as worse handling, less economical, more expensive hatchbacks, especially those at the subcompact level, and instead of these crossovers, we would turn to wagons to be the right choice for what we want to drive and enjoy every day.

There are several excellent wagons on the market that we could choose from, but our love seems to be with these small crossover SUVs.

We’ll Never ProCeed to this Car

Because the automotive market in North America has moved from the large and lumbering wagons of old to minivans and now to a wide variety of crossover SUVs, we don’t view wagons as having a place in our market. The Kia ProCeed is a car that could change that thought, but it’s not likely that Kia will bring it to the US and sell it because we just don’t seem to like to buy wagons at all. That’s too bad because this little wagon is certainly one that can be admired and enjoyed.

What is the Kia ProCeed?

In Europe, the Kia ProCeed will make its official debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, but we already know what this car is. If it were to be a car on our market, it would be one of the Kia Forte models and offered as a wagon. The smaller model of this car, the Kia Ceed, is the same as the Kia Forte5 and it’s a hatchback that we might actually see in the future, but we won’t likely ever get to have the ProCeed as the car we enjoy driving with the added cargo area and comfort that we need.

Call it a Shooting Brake

Kia has already told us the ProCeed Concept is being called a shooting brake, even though it does have four doors. Why not, we have four-door coupes on the market so this seems like a reasonable transition for one of the car types that we see and admire. By calling it a shooting brake, you know this car has a svelte silhouette with the style and sleekness you’re looking for when you take this car out on the road and enjoy a great drive.

A Great Car We Won’t See

There are three gas engines that will be offered for this car when it launches and a diesel engine as well. Two transmission options are available to be mated to these engines as well. As much as a sleek, stylish, and useful wagon sounds like an excellent choice, it’s too much to ask Kia to bring it to the US to be sold. That’s too bad for us, this is a car that could answer some of the needs that we have on the market, but we will just have to admire it from afar for now.
