Auto manufacturers have to make tough choices about where to place the focus of the company. This often means making the tough decision to discontinue a particular vehicle. It could be because that specific vehicle isn’t as popular as it once was. It might also be due to the company putting emphasis on a different kind of model. Sometimes, a vehicle is just ready to retire. Sometimes, the manufacturer decides to bring them back and these are some of the top resurrected vehicles today.
While auto manufacturers cut cars from their lineup all of the time, it’s a rarer occasion to have a model from the past go back into production. When discontinued vehicles return, everyone takes notice.
Here are just some of the top vehicles that made a triumphant return:
The Buick Verano – Resurrected Vehicles in China
The popular small sedan known as the Buick Verano went out of production in the U.S. in 2017. It didn’t die out completely, though. Production of the Buick Verano continued to China. Overseas, the Verano also went through a major facelift and redesign: larger grille, lean body lines, and squinty headlights like you see on the Regal Sportback, to name a few.
What’s interesting about the Buick Verano is that auto paparazzi have seen an unknown Buick model undergo testing in Michigan. Some believe that this means the Verano is coming back to the U.S. market, while others are waiting for an official announcement. Of course, it would be awesome for GM to get back into the compact sedan market, and the Buick Verano would be the perfect way to make it happen.
The Ford Bronco – Resurrected Vehicles in the US
The recent rerelease of the Ford Bronco was a major event. The original Bronco stopped being produced in the mid-90s after decades of success. Ford decided to give this SUV another chance to start off in 2021.
The Bronco was always known as the GOAT (Goes On Any Terrain). The newest version lives up to the legacy. Those who miss the original version of this powerful vehicle will love all of the nostalgic details and trim options, although it doesn’t come with the classic V8 engine. Don’t worry; the V6 or turbocharged four-cylinder brings plenty of power to the table. There’s even talk of a hybrid powertrain coming in the near future.
The Jeep Gladiator – Resurrected Vehicles in the US
There was a day when you could walk into a Jeep dealership and grab a Jeep Wrangler Pickup. By the end of President Bush Sr.’s single term in office, this rare breed of a pickup truck was off of the market.
After almost two decades, the Wrangler Pickup was back and took the name Jeep Gladiator. This mid-size pickup is still based on the Wrangler’s design but comes with some extra perks. The Gladiator can actually tow and haul more than the Wrangler and even comes with a punchy diesel engine and manual transmission.

Whether you’re keeping track of which cars are coming and going, you may not even realize that a vehicle was discontinued before seeing that it’s back and better than ever. As needs and trends change, manufacturers are realizing that some of their abandoned projects have room for a second life.
If you want to know more about vehicles that are making a comeback, keep your eye on the major auto shows and major auto blogs. If you play your cards right, you could be the first person on your block with something like the Buick Verano. Your neighbors may even look at you as a trendsetter.
