The world most of us live in is one in which we shop for what we want and often have to settle for something close to exactly what we’d like to have because what we truly want isn’t available. For those who fall into the super-rich category of the world, this isn’t the case. When the term “money is no object” is a reality, manufacturers will do whatever they can to make sure the desires of these customers are met and they are able to enjoy the finest and most expensive things in life; as long as they pay for them.
We have heard tales of some of these customer purchasing two Rolls-Royce models in order to have one that has a cup holder where they want it or a specific feature. In these cases Rolls-Royce uses the first car to test and perfect the desired custom feature and then installs it on the second one as a fully integrated item which is then delivered to the customer. This gives the customer a unique vehicle that is built to their own needs and not one that is made for them to have to adjust their driving and riding desires to.
Aston Martin is another company that is used to requests that add or delete features from their cars. They have been in the exotic car business long enough to know that a customer may want to order something they haven’t yet thought of and it’s their job to make that particular car come to life for this customer. Such is the case with one of the most track focused car to ever come out of Aston Martin, but this car is also one that is elegant and classy, much like many of the models before it.
The car in question is the new Vantage GT12 which is one of the most hardcore cars ever made by Aston Martin. This car comes in a limited number and is only beaten by the Vulcan for its rarity. The Vantage GT12 shows up with a naturally aspirated V12 engine that is capable of producing 595 horsepower and 461 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine not only produces the power to make it fast on a track, but it also puts out one of the most impressive sounds from the exhaust pipe that anyone has ever heard come from any car engine.
Not only does the car offers a wonderful exhaust note, but it’s nearly completely covered in carbon fiber panels which make it much lighter than other cars would be of similar builds. Add to this the titanium exhaust pipe and you have a car that is in the upper echelons of technology and materials.
There is one customer that decided they love the sound of the car so much they want to hear it as they drive on the road or on the track. Typically the Vantage GT12 comes with a roof and taking a roof off any car to make it a Roadster usually leaves it with less rigidity and leaves you with slower lap times than the version that have a roof. Aston Martin was able to keep this from being a problem and has happily produced one model of the Vantage GT12 Roadster for the customer who so loved the sound of the exhaust they had to have it without a solid roof. It seems if more people see what this car looks like without the roof, Aston Martin may have to produce a model that is a convertible in order to have the right car for those who want to enjoy the beautiful sound.
Before this singular customer takes deliver of the car that will likely cost them upwards of $340,000, the car will spend some time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for all to see. This is a car that’s worth looking at and thinking about for yourself and just might be what Aston Martin brings us for the first update of the new Vantage GT12. As for the one customer this car is for, they are going to love driving the car and listening to the wonderful sound it produces.
