03.23.16 - 2016 Chevrolet Silverado

With many luxury model sedans we see a series of cameras that make the driving easier. These can be backup cameras, cameras that are made to sense distances and even those for an all-around view of the vehicle and the traffic on all areas. These cameras offer lane lines and guidance markers to help you drive better and make changes smoothly and confidently. With these cameras making it easier for sedan and car drivers, two companies that make trucks have decided they need cameras to aid in some specific truck activities, making it much easier for those that pull a trailer to get the job done even better.

Ford and Chevrolet have added a wide range of guidance and information features to their trucks to give you a way to handle a trailer and some other aspects of driving a truck much easier. For the Ford trucks there will be as many as seven cameras added to the truck. Three of the cameras will be included in the Trailer Reverse Guidance system to offer guidance lines and help coach you as you back up a trailer so you can do so with ease and avoid the back and forth action that typically takes place when guiding a trailer.

There is also a camera that you can put in place by attaching it to the back of the trailer to give you a view of exactly what is behind the trailer to ensure you steer the trailer where it needs to go. There is also a center high mounted camera that gives you visibility into the cargo area of the truck to help you ensure your load in the bed doesn’t shift or move during the ride on trails or even on the paved roads so you can avoid the embarrassment of a shifted or lost cargo when you hit a bump in the road.

Chevrolet will have a new trailering camera system that has been developed in partnership with Echomaster to give you three new cameras. Two of the cameras will be side-view models and there is one that can be mounted on the rear of the trailer. The side-view cameras are mounted in the side-view mirrors to give you a look at the lane next to you when you turn on your turn signal and indicate you intend to change lanes which can help you avoid possible collisions when you have a trailer attached.

The rear backup camera of the Silverado is activated when the reverse gear is used. This camera features infrared lighting to make the improve the images when the lighting is poor. This new camera system from Chevrolet will be available beginning in April for anyone who purchases a new Chevrolet Silverado to enjoy.

With these new camera systems trailering can be much easier than it has ever been. The integration of the rear trailer mounted cameras that send the signal seamlessly to you while driving make for a much safer and easier job when driving a trailer. The worst feeling when pulling a trailer is hearing or feeling something at the back of the truck that you can’t see or know until you step out of the truck. With these cameras in place you can easily avoid the problem of hitting something you can’t see.
