As a major partner in the PLAY BALL initiative and a sponsor of the 2018 MLB All-Star Game, Chevrolet conducted a contest to find their next kid reporter for the All-Star Game.
As part of the summer fun of baseball, and to help make this event more enjoyable for fans and players, Chevrolet has sponsored a kid reporter for a few years and two winners will have the chance to interview players, managers, and other personnel on the sidelines before and after some of the different events that will take place.

This year, the All-Star Game is being held in Washington, D.C., which means there may be several government dignitaries and leaders of the nation in attendance for the events. The Chevrolet competition is a national search for kids aged 8-14 who have a passion for sports and are interested in reporting on the game. This was an easy contest for kids to enter and now we wait for the announcement from Chevrolet as to who the two winners are that will be able to stand on the sidelines and report on the game while doing some of the player interviews.

Rules to Enter

While entry to this contest closed on May 31, the rules were pretty simple. Kids had to submit a video of 30-60 seconds in length to show their skills on camera. The videos were expected to showcase interview questions and knowledge of some of the prominent baseball stars while offering a bit of creativity and fun. The judging of these videos is based on the on-camera presence, baseball passion, and the clarity/enunciation of the English language. This is certainly a tough job for those who have to choose just two kids out of the group that entered.
The two winners of the submissions will each win a trip for four to Washington, D.C. to attend the Midsummer Classic and have a chance to interview players and coaches during the All-Star Media Day festivities. This is a great event and one in which participants can let loose and have a bit of fun, especially when being interviewed by kids who have some of the best questions that have been heard during the years that Chevrolet has been selecting kids to perform in this role and participate in the fun.
As an official vehicle sponsor of Major League baseball and the PLAY BALL initiative, Chevrolet is committed to supporting the continued growth of the sport of baseball at the youth level to encourage kids to sign up, get out and play, and have a lot of fun. From 2006 to 2017, Chevrolet was able to reach more than 6.7 million kids through its youth baseball programs and it donated more than 136,000 equipment kits to youth baseball initiatives to allow kids from all areas of the country to be able to learn to play and have a lot of fun with the game that many of us have grown up with in one way or another.
