When someone says they drive a Camry, what do you think of? Most of us think of an unassuming car that has the reliability record we want, the build that makes for a great commuter car and the fuel efficiency that we need for affordability. The Toyota Camry has been and continues to be the best-selling sedan in the US market, but it’s never been a car that was all that exciting. Even the advertising for the Camry simply showed us families who all trust their Camry models to get the job done year after year.

This dependable performer isn’t one you had to question, but instead you could admire what it was for you and how it delivered you where you wanted to go. While it’s been a steady and reliable ride more style and more excitement certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing to add to this car at all. While the Camry continues to be the top seller, the fact that it’s basically been a family car and commuter tool has been why it sells so well, making many of us want to have another car that can be our vehicle for the weekends.

Thankfully, Toyota has seen the writing on the wall and has decided they need to begin offering more of what we want on the Camry to make sure we have the drive we’ve been longing for. If and when they unleash the Camry they’ve been teasing us with, it may become the only car in the garage and be the one more of us want to drive on weekends as well as during the week. We did get a glimpse at the new front of the Camry with the way the new NASCAR race car is built, but a new and more interesting image has appeared.

Recently we’ve been teased with a look at what the rear of the car might look like. This is the view we want to give those people on the road around us who we leave behind ,but it’s not the entire car. This image does let us see more aggressive styling and an improved flow of lines to be a car that we can see ourselves driving, as long as the rest of the car blends well with this appearance. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait to see what the new Camry will final look like.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long. The new 2018 Camry will be shown off at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show in January, which will make it easy for us to see what this car is and how it can perform. The new Camry will be built on the modular TNGA platform which will mean some weight savings compared to what we have now. There is also expected to be a hybrid model and new safety features are expected to be packed in the new Camry including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. Only a few weeks left and then we’ll see exactly what this new car is for us and how it will perform.
