Trucks Driving the Future
There are two new trucks making waves in the automotive world. Both the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Ford Maverick are designed to do everything a truck should do but with consideration for the future.
These trucks have everything drivers have come to expect from rugged Fords. However, they both attempt to leave a smaller footprint. With zero or lessened emissions, both of these trucks give you peace of mind when it comes to the future of the planet.
The Ford Maverick
The 2022 Ford Maverick is a fuel-efficient truck with a hybrid powertrain. With its compact size, it’s perfect for those drivers who want a truck for function but prefer something smaller than the traditional F-150.
The Maverick comes with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine but it also has an electric motor. This truck offers 191 horsepower, as well. While the power may be smaller than some traditional trucks, the fuel economy is enough to win most drivers over. The mighty but compact Maverick offers 40 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
This truck comes with a 4.5-foot bed that can hold up to 1,500 pounds of cargo. It can also tow up to 2,000 pounds. These statistics offer most truck drivers all the power they need for daily driving. If necessary, you can opt for the non-hybrid version and get 250 horsepower and increase towing capacity to 4,000 pounds.
With several trim and engine options, the Ford Maverick should definitely be considered.
The Ford F-150 Lightning
The Ford F-150 Lightning is like a truck from a science fiction novel. This truck offers all the creature comforts you have come to expect from F-150s but with the technology aimed at driving this truck well into the future.
For starters, the F-150 Lightning is all-wheel drive. And the power immediately available even on the base model is hard to beat. With 426 horsepower stemming from two electric motors and 775 pounds per foot of instant torque, you will be hard-pressed to find a job you can’t complete. Plus, the base model can carry 1,800 pounds in the 5.5- foot bed. The towing capacity is an incredible 7,700 pounds, as well. Of course, there are upgrades to increase the values, as well.
But what takes this truck to a whole other level is the fact that the Lightning can literally power your house in the event of a power outage. Simply plug your truck into a wall outlet to divert its power to your home for up to three days. Yes, three days.
The Ford F-150 Lightning is an incredible truck with out-of-this-world features.
So Which Truck is Best?
Whether you decide on the Maverick or the Lightning depends on your daily needs. The Maverick starts at just under $20K but has fewer features, while the Lightning starts out around $40K but can do more for the driver. Depending on your budget and power needs, both trucks have incredible potential.
