The auto industry isn’t the only industry seeing a shift towards electrification; the RV industry is also heading that way. The long-loved luxury brand Mercedes-Benz is leading the way with the latest addition to its lineup, the EQT Marco Polo. While this RV doesn’t have the body-type flexibility of a Mercedes E-Class sedan (coupe or convertible), it is going to wow consumers just the same.

The EQT Marco Polo is more than just an RV; it’s a symbol of this brand’s move toward a more sustainable future. Like most automotive brands, Mercedes-Benz is exploring more eco-friendly, electric, and hybrid vehicles. According to Klaus Rehkugler, Mercedes-Benz’s head of sales and marketing, “The future is electric regardless of the size or purpose of a van.”

Luxurious Amenities in a Micro-Sized Package

The concept EQT Marco Polo has everything you would expect from a Mercedes-Benz. It showcases a pop-top roof lined with widows and a solar panel. This roof gives you standing room and an LED light-lined bed. If you prefer a more traditional setup, there is a folding bed located toward the rear of the van. Interested in creating some privacy? Just push a button, and the windows will automatically darken.

The EQT Marco Polo’s luxury doesn’t stop in the bedroom. This micro RV features a small kitchenette, sink, refrigerator, induction cooktop, and plenty of storage. You can even cook outside via the portable gas stove stored in a designated drawer. Set up the included height-adjustable foldout table and two benches, and you can eat lunch in the sunshine.

Much like the Mercedes E-Class, the Marco Polo should come adorned with brushed aluminum and wood accents. Other details about the interior have not been released yet, but expectations are set high.

Power Conservation for the Long Haul

Drivers have feared electric RVs out of concern for battery life. No one wants to get out in nature only to find they can’t get back on the road. Mercedes-Benz thought ahead and loaded this RV with extra removable and rechargeable batteries, allowing for excellent power conversation on the road. The solar panel also helps power devices inside of the RV to help conserve battery life for driving.

Currently, the Mercedes E-Class is just a concept vehicle. We should see a production version of this RV within the year. It’s hard to say which nifty features will make it from concept to production, but we can be certain that the final product will be amazing.

The fully converted and electrified EQV Marco Polo is expected to cost around $75,600. A standard-length EQT van without the camper conversion should start at $52,600. The pricing is not too far off from a new Mercedes E-Class, which will make this RV a perfect addition to the Mercedes-Benz lineup.
