A Look at the New 2020 Ram 2500

We’ve already seen the new Ram 1500 that’s being offered for the 2019 model year and this means the next and most logical step in the progression of the Ram trucks is to see an upgraded Ram 2500 that will follow. We’ve now seen some of the testing versions of the new heavy-duty truck model out on the roads to give us a look at what we think this impressive upgrade will be when the truck arrives for the drive we want to experience when it’s time to head out on the road.

While this new truck is still in the developmental phase, you can expect it to be a serious improvement over the previous truck in much the same way the Ram 1500 for 2019 is an improvement over what we’ve seen in the past. Even though much of what the Ram 2500 HD will look like is being hidden by the camouflage in the photos, we can expect the crosshair grill to be a thing of the past and a new Ram fascia to be presented to us to give us the upgraded and new look that allows us to forget the Dodge days of this truck.

Making Changes We’re Going to Enjoy in the Ram 2500

You should expect the new HD model to borrow many of the interior upgrades from the smaller Ram 1500 to offer the comfort and quality you want in a large truck that can be enjoyed on the job site. We should see an interior design that’s nearly identical with the same upholstery, trim, and tech options to make this a familiar place if you’ve taken a look at the new Ram 1500. We certainly hope this means we’ll have the 12-inch touchscreen on the higher trims to offer the connectivity desired as well.

Under the hood of the new Ram 2500 HD, we expect to see the 5.7 and 6-4-liter Hemi V8 engines that we’ve grown to love. The diesel engine that we admire should also make its way under the hood of this truck which is a 6.7-liter turbocharged power plant. The six-speed transmission will likely be replaced by a unit that offers more gears and will provide better overall fuel mileage, but this change hasn’t been confirmed yet. The location where the new Ram HD truck is built will be one of the greatest differences we’ll see in this truck. For several years the Ram 2500 HD was built in Saltillo, Mexico, but now that production will move to Warren, MI to be much closer to the location where the Ram 1500 is built. Currently, the Ram 1500 is built in Sterling Heights, MI which is only a fifteen-minute drive from the Warren plant. We should expect to see this new Ram 2500 HD at some of the shows between now and the early part of next year before this truck goes on sale as part of the 2020 model year lineup.
