Tesla Cybertruck: 10 Interesting Features You Might Have Missed

We’ve heard about the build and power of the new Tesla Cybertruck but are there some features you might have overlooked?

The new Tesla Cybertruck is one the most talked about vehicles that hasn’t actually been sold yet. This is pretty much what’s expected of any Tesla product. We did the same thing with the Model X and Model 3, but there’s something even more interesting about the Cybertruck. This pickup isn’t your typical model with a traditional build or powertrain, but there’s so much more to this vehicle than meets the eye.

Here are ten unique features you could easily miss when looking at this new Tesla truck.

1. The Center Front Seat is So Much More

The back of the center front seat folds down to become an armrest, storage console, and cupholder. While the folding down is relatively normal, and cupholders are traditional for this area, it’s cool to have a place for some random stuff when you don’t need to use this seat for your passengers. This is something you might have overlooked because it seems like a traditional part of pickup trucks.

2. The Sun Visor is in a Unique Position

The sun visor is made to help block the sun while driving and still give you enough visibility to handle the drive to wherever you need to go. The sun visor in this Tesla truck is flush against the A-pillar, which makes it different from most. In most vehicles, this feature is attached to the front edge of the roof, but not in the Cybertruck. You’ll find the sun visor in a strange place that might make it more useful than traditional versions.

3. Scroll Wheels for Menu Selection

The prototype versions of this Tesla show a vehicle with a steering yoke. We expect to see a more traditional steering wheel when this truck goes into production, but that yoke keeps your attention. In fact, while you’re admiring the yoke with its shape, you likely won’t notice the scroll wheels on the steering apparatus. Why would you? These scroll wheels aren’t anything special. They are included in the Model 3, but they make it easier to move through the menus on the screen and find the right selection.

4. Anchor Points Throughout the Truck Bed

The Tesla Cybertruck is a real truck. It comes with L-track rails and T-slots to give you an easy way to position an anchor point wherever you need to inside the large 6.5-foot bed. This is key to transporting items that would normally move about in the bed during the drive. With moveable anchor points, you’ll have one of the most versatile truck beds in the market when this Tesla pickup is the one you want to drive.

5. There’s a Storage Compartment Under the Bed

Tesla didn’t leave any space unused in this truck. There’s a decent-sized storage compartment under the bed floor which is large enough for some medium-sized items. You can put toolboxes or sleeping bags under this floorboard and know they are safe and secure. Just make sure the items in this area aren’t those that you need right away when you get to your destination. Just a little tip to keep you from being frustrated.

6. More Hidden Storage You Missed

The shape of the Tesla Cybertruck is unique, but the idea of using all of the open spaces for extra storage is not. The sides of the bed are called sail pillars in this truck. These areas open to offer a hidden storage compartment. This could be the right place for those small items you need as soon as you arrive at your destination. It’s easy to miss these storage compartments when you first review this truck and learn about its features. These storage areas could be exactly what you need to make this a great work truck.

7. The Tonneau Cover is Motorized

Tesla created a motorized tonneau bed cover for this truck to make it easy to close the bed when you’re not carrying a load that sticks up above this cover. There’s a flush button on the rear of the truck to engage and disengage this feature. The button is large and easy to reach, with one on each side of the truck for convenience. This makes it easy for you to get the items out of the bed that you’ve stored there to keep things secure.

8. Sideview Cameras are Located in the Front Fenders

Similar to other Tesla vehicles, there aren’t any side mirrors for the Tesla Cybertruck. Instead, there are cameras in the front fenders which can be used with the Autopilot semi-autonomous driving system. Unfortunately, when this truck enters production, it will likely include side mirrors because of existing regulations, but it doesn’t actually need these mirrors. We just aren’t quite there yet to allow technology to take over.

9. A Pass Through in the Rear

You probably saw the rear center seat and the fold-down armrest that’s part of this seat. This is another traditional feature that made its way into the Cybertruck. Did you know this space is also a pass-through from the bed to make it easier to carry longer items? Of course, you’ve also got to make sure these longer items are rather thin to fit through this area. Even so, it’s nice to know you can take a few longer items with you when you drive this truck.

10. Did You See the Rear Light Strips?

The exterior of the Tesla Cybertruck might be brutally futuristic, but the interior is warm, welcoming, and comfortable. Part of that comfort comes in the form of the thin light strips above each rear door that allows the rear passengers to have the desired lighting elements while out on the road. The lights are white, which makes for a futuristic look, which you should expect. These lights fit well with the theme of the truck, but they are easy to miss unless you’re looking for them.

Are any of these ten features something you didn’t notice about the new Tesla Cybertruck? Next time you see this new electric truck, you’ll certainly look for these cool features that most people miss.
