The All-Electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 Is Yet Another Game Changer

The All-Electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 Is Yet Another Game Changer

A strikingly sleek look, impressive range, and effortless power. What does this describe? It’s the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 that will soon arrive on Hyundai dealer lots. In a market where consumers continue to demand SUVs, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 stands out with its four-door sedan body style and performance that can’t be beaten, even by Tesla.

The Powertrain Basics

The base Ioniq 6 model uses one electric motor to power the rear wheels. When paired with the standard battery, it puts out 149 horsepower, and with the long-range battery, it generates 225 horsepower and gets 258 pound-feet of torque. There’s also a dual motor setup that not only has more power, but also gets you all-wheel drive. This Ioniq 6 has a motor for each axle and comes only with a larger battery. This all combines to generate 320 horsepower and get 446 pound-feet of torque.

So how fast is it? All the powertrains have the instant acceleration that electric car drivers crave, but with the two motors and a larger battery, the Ioniq 6 will zip from zero to 60 in a scant 5.1 seconds.

Range Anxiety is a Thing of the Past

With a range of 361 miles, the Ioniq 6 SE with rear-wheel drive and a larger battery will take you almost anywhere you need to go without having to recharge. Even the shortest driving version will still go up to 270 miles on a full charge, which is impressive for any electric vehicle. This shorter range comes with the Limited and SEL model with all-wheel drive.

Let’s Not Forget About Charging

A big piece of driving an electric vehicle is charging. With a 350-kW fast charger, you can recoup 65 miles in only five minutes and get the battery up to 80% in less than 20 minutes. When you have extra time on your hands and don’t need to charge quickly, the onboard Level 2 charger takes just over seven hours to get the battery from almost nothing to a full charge.

Customize Your Drive

The ride in the Ioniq 6 is seriously refined and comfortable. And quiet. It’s no surprise that an EV is quiet. There’s no engine noise, but when on the road, there is also no wind noise in the cabin, and any road noise sounds muted and distant.
Now let’s talk about the driving experience. The Ioniq 6 allows each driver to customize their experience. The steering system offers normal and sport modes, and you can adjust the power output too, with maximum, normal, and minimum to choose from. Want quicker acceleration, choose high, or if you want less pedal sensitivity, choose normal or low.

A Fun and Practical Performer

When you see the Ioniq 6 at a Hyundai dealer, it will not only stand out with its looks but also make a big impression when you get behind the wheel. Performance doesn’t take a back seat in this electric vehicle, it’s front and center.
