For the GMC brand, the Terrain is one of the most important vehicles. Once you get past the trucks, this SUV is the best-selling GMC offered.
For that reason, it’s important that GMC toes the line carefully when making changes to this crossover. The 2022 model year will usher in a new generation of the Terrain which will have new looks and an additional trim for your drive.
Most Models Arrive in the Summer
If you’re looking for a GMC Terrain and you want to wait for the new 2022 versions to appear, you’ll be glad to have them available to you this summer. All trims will arrive then with one exception. The Denali trim will make its appearance in the fall, giving you a new SUV that could arrive just in time for the holidays. When the summer models arrive, a new AT4 off-road trim will be part of the mix.
The GMC Terrain is the Final Model to Receive the AT4 Treatment
The new AT4 trim will be part of the mix for the Terrain. While the AT4 is an off-road-ready trim in most of the other models, here, it gives mostly a visual upgrade, but still allows the Terrain to be fitted with a steel front skid plate to make sure you can have the added protection you’re looking for.
The New Look of this SUV
The new face of the AT4 model will make its way to every model of the Terrain. This gives you the new look you want when you take this SUV out for a drive. You’ll have redesigned C-clamp-shaped headlights that are extended to reach the grille on the top side of the shape. The grille is much larger than previous models, offering more air into the engine area.
Looking to the rear, the GMC Terrain has refreshed taillights with LED lighting on both ends. You’ll find four new colors added to the mix to give you more choices when you want to find the right color for your vehicle and you can select either 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels to give you the drive you’re after.
Upgrades Made to the Interior of the GMC Terrain
When you step inside the cabin of this new version of the Terrain, you’ll find more tech has been added. The infotainment system supports wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You’ll also have an available head-up display which is standard for the Denali trim.
Every version of the Terrain will now have an expanded lineup of safety items which are part of the GMC Pro Safety package. This package includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, follow distance indicator, and automatic high beams.
Powertrains for the 2022 GMC Terrain will be the same as before and the lineup of trims will be SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. If you’ve been thinking about buying a rugged compact crossover SUV, this could be the right one for you when it arrives later this summer and fall.
