The Jeep Announcement We’ve Been Waiting For

The rumors of the potential that Jeep would add a three-row SUV to the mix have swirled for the past couple of years.

Even though Jeep was hell-bent on making sure the new Wrangler would be more road-worthy than the previous generations, and they had a serious focus on bringing us the new Gladiator pickup truck to be a Jeep truck, there were still rumors being discussed. No matter what vehicle you choose from Jeep, there wasn’t a three-row SUV being offered, which was certainly a sore spot in a world where there are now more of these large SUVs than in the past.

The Jeep Discussion Continues

If you haven’t heard them, the rumors that were being discussed gave us the idea that Jeep would be offering a new version of their three-row SUVs of the past. Yes, this means bringing back the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer names, which should certainly get you excited that Jeep just might have the full lineup of SUVs in every class once again. The FCA team confirmed their next focus is on the “white space” products for Jeep, which refers to areas of the SUV market in which the brand doesn’t currently compete. This means at least one three-row SUV should be on the horizon.

The Course has been set for the Jeep Brand

The statements that are part of the Warrant Truck 2017 investment documents show that the investment will increase to $1.5 billion for the production of an all-new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. This means there isn’t any secret that the Jeep brand is going to be able to bring us what we’ve been waiting for from this brand, and it’s coming at a great time when large SUVs are the area of the market where we see the most growth right now.

Additional Assembly Locations for FCA

While seeing the expansion and growth where the new Wagoneer models will be built, the FCA team is also increasing production in other areas to make sure more models continue to be built. The Ram 1500 Classic was thought to be a way to use up the parts left for this truck that’s built on the older platform. Now, it seems this truck will continue to be offered to give us more of the choices we want when it comes time to find the right truck for a fleet or an easy truck to drive on a daily basis.

More Jobs Coming for Jeep

The Mack Avenue Engine Complex is being converted to handle the engines for the new Jeep models and the next Grand Cherokee. Additionally, the Jefferson North plant will retool as well and there are expected to be as many as 1,100 new jobs created to help the growth of this brand and continue to allow FCA to be strong in the SUV and pickup truck markets. It’s an exciting time if you’re someone that’s looking for a large SUV or a truck to drive and you think the Jeep or Ram brands might be right for you.
