With the resurgence of the Lincoln Continental we have been graced with some different looks including the concept that was unveiled nearly a year ago.  Recently the Continental was seen with its spy camo on driving around a test area with nearly all the features we are looking for this car to be. What we want our Continental to be is a car that can carry on the name that has garnered so much respect over the extended number of years Lincoln has been in business. 

In order to do that the Continental has to be a car that invokes the thoughts of comfort, style and luxury.  What we see from the recent look at the car is this will certainly be a car with the style and luxury from the exterior and come in a size that should easily be comfortable.  When we look for luxury the first thing we want on the outside of a car is the inclusion of LED headlights, some chrome trim where it should be and the elegance to expect respect from the beginning to the end. 

When looking for the style a luxury car has to be a clean look with very little that is interrupting the design from the front to the back.  This was one of the ways this car offers a distinct look as the beltline is blended in neatly with the side of the body.  Not only is the beltline basically hidden, you won’t see the door handles on the new Continental as they have been hidden/blended to offer a clean and elegant look to the sides.  The rear of the final version seems to be a little different than the concept with more visible taillights and an integrated exhaust system that has become more simplified.

As for the top and the angles of the car that will make the shape, the Continental can easily be described as a curvature of excellence as it appears to be sportier than it would be on other models.  This gives the Continental a feeling of style and sophistication that hints at a car that will be able to offer the performance we want from our luxury vehicles.  Overall, it appears the Continental will be a car that can truly take the name that has been a flagship sedan that we understand to be the sign of perfection from a premium brand.

When will we see the final production version of the Continental?  This car is scheduled to be unveiled in all its glory and put on the chrome we would want this luxury car to have for the Detroit Auto Show that will kick off the next year the right way.  When it does make it to the show in Detroit, we will then know much more about the interior, power and all the specs of the car that will add more class and style to the luxury  name of Lincoln.  Don’t be surprised if performance numbers add up to what might be a car that is challenging the Cadillac CTS for top honors in the class.
