Many of us who live in and around large cities experience the “fun” of gridlock traffic on our commute to and from work on a daily basis. This traffic can be frustrating and when an accident occurs it can try our patience in more ways than we care to admit. The stress of stopping and then going, only to creep along the road toward home with no real sense of what time we will arrive at our destination is awful, but many do this on a daily basis and make a living going through this traffic to and from the office every day.
In some cities organizations and employers have banded together to help create different start times for work to aid in the reduction of the number of cars on the road at a certain time of day. Doing this can create waves of traffic that reduces the density of the gridlock, making it much easier to get to and from work; at least in less time even if it’s not actually easier. The challenge is still the fact that stop and go traffic can try your patience and test your nerves, especially when it moves along at a slow pace for a while.
Ford has come up with a new technology for the adaptive cruise control that is meant to aid in this traffic process. ON the new Fusion there will be a stop and go feature added which will allow the car to follow at lower speeds and even come to a complete stop when the car in front does the same. If the car is stopped for more than three seconds you will have to push the resume button on the steering wheel or tap on the accelerator pedal to make the car go again when traffic resumes.
With this feature you won’t have to hold the brake pedal or shift into park when you are stopped for a lengthy period of time, and when traffic is moving again you simply push the button and you are off. With the fact that most of us spend as much as an hour and a half in heavy traffic on a weekly basis this can be a challenge for anyone and this stop and go feature can certainly give you a more relaxing way to deal with the gridlock traffic you may face on a daily basis.
As for the traffic itself, there isn’t much you can do about it, but with the Fusion that will be offered for 2017 at least you can relax your legs a bit and not worry about holding the brake when halted. This Fusion has several other safety technologies to make it a great car for you including pre-collision assist, pedestrian detection and many other features to make this a car that will be one you want to drive. Finally we have a car that understands the challenges of traffic around a large metropolis and will make it much easier for us to manage the navigation of this traffic.
