Most of the Mustang models on the market that are offered with their production engines are made so that nearly anyone can drive them. When you’re a professional driver that has the skills to race around a track and have shown off in a variety of ways the fact that you can handle impressive power and performance from under the hood of a car, you want something that’s much more than what come in a production car. This is certainly the case when your name is Ken Block and the Hoonigan crew can help give you what you want to drive.

The Mustang in the video below is Ken Block’s own 1966 Ford Mustang and it is a car that has more of what anyone who is capable of handling incredible power would want. This car has been named the Hoonicorn which is a 1400 horsepower car that has everything you could want to make its way around any track and tear up the stunt areas to be one of the most incredible performing Mustang’s ever built. This is a car that took a long time to complete, but now that it is, this is a car that we can absolutely admire.

How much time did it take to complete this specialized 1966 Ford Mustang? To start with, the suspension guy, Mike Maier, took eight years developing his rocker arm system with the interchangeable profile plates. This car started out as a car that was meant for his wife and then turned into this street car that has amazing power and is perfect for the autocross circuit. This car is made to give power where it’s needed, but as you can see, it took eight years just to get the suspension right.

On the inside of this car the wooden Cobra steering wheel stays period correct but under the hood resides a Roush Yates NASCAR crate engine that produces 750 horsepower and 580 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine has a redline at 8700 rpm and a five-gallon dry sump system to make this engine lubricated properly while on the track. This power is delivered to the rear wheels by using a straight-cut dogleg gearbox to make sure this car can shift and be ready to rocket around the tracks in the autocross circuit that Ken Block loves to race around.

Other changes were needed to make this Ford Mustang look right, sit low and have the performance needed. All these additional changes took an additional four years, making this a creation that took twelve years to finish. Most race teams wouldn’t even dream of taking this long, but the Hoonigan crew has a large number of vehicles for Ken to drive and spending time on this labor of love was certainly worth the effort.
