Car lovers want the fastest, coolest, most hip looking vehicles. This is no exception when it comes to Fords. Maybe you want the latest Shelby Mustang, but don’t have the cash to purchase it yet, or maybe your child dreams of driving a Ford F-150 truck, but of course not only can they not touch the pedals, but they can’t legally drive it either. For those of you out there coveting a Ford, but can’t quite cut it, there is another option for you.

So while you may dream of the real thing, there may be a smaller version that can tide over your yearning until it becomes a reality. 3D printing has made it so that little dreamers and the older ones alike can have a replica model printed of their favorite Ford truck, car, or SUV. Yes, you can technically own the Ford GT supercar with a price tag estimated at around $400,000, but on a much smaller scale.

Ford launched their very own 3D printing store online last week, which allows customers to purchase pre-printed models of their favorite Ford vehicle in plastic, or they can download the file digitally to print on their very own 3D printer. Ford is an innovator with this practice, as they are the first in the market to offer such a feature for its customers. Ford is allowing customers to interact with them in a way they have never been able to before.

Current printable models include the Ford F-150 Raptor, Shelby GT350R, Focus RS, Fiesta ST, and the limited edition Ford GT. Downloading the digital file to print will only cost you $4.99, while printed vehicles will run about $39. If you want the GT supercar, however, it will cost you a little more at $230. Although these may not be the real thing, they are a good close second until you can make your dreams a reality.

If you purchase a pre-printed model from the Ford online store, it will be about 1/32 the size of the original vehicle printed in plastic, but if you download the file, you can choose the scale of the vehicle, as well as the material you would like to print it with. Some printers support metal, sandstone, and even soft plastic as material options. These would look great on dad’s desk for Father’s Day, or even for the little one to push around the coffee table.
