When you think of the Nissan lineup you envision such great products as the Altima and Maxima as the sedans, the Pathfinder and Murano for the SUVs and even the 370Z and GT-R. There are specifics and distinctions for each of the different areas of the lineup. This keeps it easy to enjoy the difference between vehicles and of course there are more to add to the list of what Nissan has to offer, but for the most part each class has kept to its own. It seems Nissan has seen the success of others and decided they need to follow the lead and create a crossover SUV that is sport inspired.
The tease part is the details of this new crossover did not get released ahead of the Frankfurt Auto Show, but Nissan will show up with their new digs at the show. This new SUV is actually expected to be a sport inspired SUV that may even carry a Z distinction. Thus far we have only gotten to view a teaser of a photo that allows us to see what exactly this new vehicle will be. This concept has not been promised to be in the lineup as of yet, but just maybe.
Why would Nissan dip into this look and feel? Mostly because others are doing the exact same thing and they need to be able to show off their ability to stay competitive. What better way than to cross a 370Z with a Juke and see what comes out? The leaked photo shows us a prominent V-motion grill up front and fenders that come up above the hood in a dramatic fashion. With triangular headlights and a smooth roof angle we can expect this new compact crossover will certainly be much more sport than utility.
Unfortunately nothing has been said about what will actually power this new little beauty, but the expectation is that it could eventually replace the 370Z in the lineup as a slightly larger offering that has more power than the 370Z does. Of course any powertrain, performance or other details are purely speculation at this point because Nissan has been so tight lipped with the details. This, of course, is the fun of having a great concept that we only get a peek at and don’t get to enjoy all the information until the company decides its time.
At a shrewd move by Nissan, we got a sneak peek at this new compact crossover SUV that can be the next great product from Nissan. So far it’s just going to be a concept vehicle but what will come from this amazing new concept could be even better than ever and show us a vehicle that is comparable to some of the high end performance SUVs but at a much lower rate. More details will be available after the Frankfurt Auto Show, stay tuned and see what this new concept turns out to be and what we might find under the hood.
