Surprise! The Kia K4 Hatchback is coming to the U.S.! Kia recently confirmed that the five-door hatch will make its way to the states at some point, but we’ll see the 2024 sedan before it happens. Kia will place it in the lineup where the Forte used to live, right under the slightly larger K5.
So, what can we expect from the K4 hatchback? It will most likely share many features and equipment with the sedan, but here is what
Looking Good
The hatchback version of the K4 will look a lot different than the sedan from the B-pillar back. It has a chrome trim piece around the rear window and D-pillar to give it a floating roof look. The upright hatch look will give it some extra space in the cabin.
There are some similarities between the hatch and the sedan. The taillights have LED strips that stretch almost the entire width of the car, and the front end is also similar to the sedan.
We Should See Familiar Powertrains
Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the hatchback is expected to arrive with the same powertrains as the K4 sedan. This means a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. A more powerful turbo 1.6-liter gas engine will be available if you choose the GT-Line Turbo model. This upgraded engine will get 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.
Advanced Safety Will Come Standard
Just like the K4 sedan, the hatchback is expected to have a full suite of advanced safety systems. This means all the driver aids we’re used to seeing with new cars these days, such as a surround-view monitor, speed limit assist, and lane-keeping assist. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert will be available, and depending on which trim you have, it could come with a blind-spot view monitor and a forward collision avoidance system.
What About the Tech?
If the K4 sedan is any indication, the K4 hatchback will have all the tech features you need to stay informed and connected every time you hit the road. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 12.3-inch central touchscreen for the infotainment system will be available. A smaller 5-inch screen will have the controls you need to operate the climate in the cabin. Wireless smartphone mirroring will bring all your apps and contacts to the K4’s screen, and wireless charging will make it easy to keep your phone charged.
If you like your music loud and clear, the Harman Kardon stereo will put a smile on your face.
A New Kia Place for Hatchback Lovers
There’s just something about a hatchback. It’s sporty and fun, and when it’s a Kia, you can count on zippy performance and lots of features. The new Kia K4 hatch that will be available soon at the nearest Kia place will share some design elements with the sedan, but it will stand out as an elegant option for those who prefer the space and look of a hatch.
